About
The Barberton Chamber of Business was established on 2 February 1887 in the Transvaal Share and Claim Exchange, shortly after the founding of the town as a result of a gold rush and expanding farming activities. Today it is one of the oldest chambers in the country, driving one of the most ambitious and innovative local development programmes. This is both redefining its own role as Chamber and changing the economic future of the sub-region.
Barberton’s position as a historic commercial centre for the district, together with current infrastructure expansion, its strategic location and focused developmental initiatives, makes the business sector all the more significant.
We take great pride in our long track record of delivery and our contribution to the business community and people of our beautiful province. We serve by creating our own destiny through targeted interventions and credible partnerships with both the private and public sector.
From humble beginnings to modern partnerships.
