Barberton Community Tourism
Barberton Community Tourism is a non-profit company established in 2005 to promote the greater Barberton area as a tourism destination. It operates independently from Chamber and is a partnership between the tourism stakeholders of the area and the Umjindi Local Municipality.
Chamber supports Barberton Tourism as a dedicated entity to promote tourism to the area. In 2010 a Strategic Alliance Agreement was entered into between Chamber and Barberton Tourism. This gives recognition to the symbiotic relationship between business and tourism through joint initiatives and sharing of certain resources. The agreement positions Barberton Tourism as marketing service provider to the Batobic Programme and seeks to further capacitate it to provide visitor information to tourists in general but in particular also related to the Batobic tourism projects.
As tourism development is a core thrust of the Batobic Programme an appropriately resourced local tourism organisation (LTO) in the form of Barberton Tourism, will become increasingly important.
