New logo family

5 November 2010 - Internal

The Chamber adopted a new logo together with an associated logo for the Batobic Programme.

The best known flower found in the area, the Barberton Daisy is rendered in a geometric style. In doing so it looks business-like and makes it possible to interpret the shapes as parts of machines (ball bearings/rollers in a printing press/gears) and even as coins or the headgear of a mine.

The daisy works on many levels:
The flower is named after Barberton where it was discovered and where it thrives;
Being a plant, it symbolises growth;
The flower is open which signifies openness and friendliness;
The flower is shaped like the sun with rays. The sun is the symbol of Mpumalanga province.

The colours represent the main drivers of the local economy - past present and future:
Gold - Mining
Red - Tourism
Spring Green - Agriculture
Dark Green - Nature

The logo and text is rendered in a modern style to indicate progressiveness while the founding date of the Chamber provides a strong link to its long history which also signifies dependability.

The Batobic Programme is the main developmental initiative of the Chamber. It's logo is adapted from that of the Chamber, signifying its local roots in business and commerce.

The colours signify the main sectors of the economy on which the programme is focussed:
Red - Tourism
Dark Green - Nature

The name BATOBIC is derived from "Barberton Tourism and Biodiversity Corridor", which is the full name of the initiative. The text is replicated from that used in the Chamber logo to indicate its symbiotic relationship and progressiveness.
